Canned Meat Products From China.
In August 2007 , the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority (AVA) of Singapore rejected and destroyed a consignment of canned pork products from two food processing plants in China.
It suspended all canned pork imports from the factories, which produce the two most popular brands here, Maling and Gulong. The other factories stopped exporting to Singapore for fear of being banned.
In these products, the AVA had found traces of nitrofurans, a banned antibiotic fed to pigs to treat illnesses.
For the time being, better to abstain from those products until you get a clear signal .
