Philosophy Of life

Grandparents denied access to their grandchildren.

Posted on May 21, 2009. Filed under: Philosophy Of life | Tags: , , |

Many grandparents are raising their grandchildren at their homes .With the current economic depression kicking in , we may see even more grandparents raising their grandchildren .

The parents are retrenched or they cannot meet their expenses and had to fall back on their parents.

The increasing incidence of parental
substance abuse, child abuse and neglect, incarceration, divorce, and desertion are the other factors which culminated in the grandparents having custody and raising their grandchildren. At their age, they should be looking at retirement and a relaxing life.

Grandparents play a major role in their grandchild’s development. They can give their grandchild the loving and supportive start early in their life.

They are given a second chance at parenting again. With their vast experiences , knowledge and time , they would make better foster parents to their grandchild.

When their children got married, they may need their parents help to look after their child. Some may just require their help on a short term.

Some may have no choice but to leave their children totally in their care due to economic and financial reasons.

Most grandparents spend a lot of time and dote on their grandchildren. They have more time, patience and understandings than the child’s parents who are always too busy with work and other commitments.

Being a grandparent can be a joyful experience and very satisfying. By helping them grow up in a secure environment, the grandparents experience a sense of self renewal.

It is what keeps them young in thought and body.Usually the grandchildren is the apple of their eye and literally , they live for their grandchildren. They also give them emotional fulfillment.

When the grandparents are denied access to their grandchildren ,or taken away from their care, it can be very hard and inconsolable.

This comes about when the parents divorce and the children stays with the mother who cut off her ex and his parents.

Some grandparents may spend large sums of money to fight in the courts for access to their grandchildren.

There are others who may never see their grandchildren again or at the mercy of the child’s mother.

If they are good, doting and co-operative grandparents, the mothers should not deny them access .

Put yourself in their shoes and you will sense their frustrations and helplessness. There should be a compromise and respect for each other.

It is normally a rocky journey when the parents divorce and some of them can be very intransigence , unreasonable, irrational and do not allow the other parent or grandparents to have access to their kids.

Such shortsighted actions can be detrimental to the child’s development and the special relationship with their grandparents.

Why deny your child the grandparent’s love and support? Do not be selfish and think only of yourself.

If you sow bad Karma you will reap more bad karma. Do not use your child as a pawn to hurt your ex or his /her parents. You should try to compromise with your ex and do what is best for the child’s welfare.

I do not have much recollections about my grandparents. My paternal and maternal grandfather died when I was very young and I don’t know how they look and even do not know what is their name. I can only remember my maternal grandmother but there was no close bond between us.They did not play any meaningful roles in my life. This is really sad.

That is why , we need to change and become more involved with our grandchildren for theirs and as well as for our benefits.

To guide , nurture and to offer them lots of love and affections and to make a great difference in their life.

A friend is better than an enemy. It is wise and prudent to have a cordial relationship with your grandparents -in-laws unless they are from Hell.

They have done no wrong to you nor to their grandchildren and to punish them by denying access to your children is pathetic and terribly wrong.

Growing Babies For Spare Parts!

Posted on November 11, 2007. Filed under: Philosophy Of life | Tags: , , , , |

PARENTS of sick children in Britain will be allowed to use IVF to create “spare-part babies” under controversial laws published yesterday.

Why want to grow a perfect life to save an imperfect one? Is there any logic in this process? Is not the new baby a human being too and have got a life of it’s own?

Yes! We may not have develope any emotional attachments to the sparepart baby as compared to the sick child. We may looked at it from an angle where we can be devoid of feelings for the new life but it does not absolved the fact that a new life was snuffed out and this is very cruel and unhuman.

If the sick baby can be cured of the defects, it would be a success but what if the sick baby is beyond the cure of modern medicine and dies. Then two precious life’s are lost.

Would it be better to keep alive the healthy baby than the sick baby who may live but could be in a vegetative state and needing constant attentions? What purpose does it serve to keep alive someone who is brain dead  or a wasted body  ?

Will it be ethical and morally right to treat such a baby as only a spare part .Can we really be so cold blooded  to kill another healthy infant inorder for the other sick one to survive? These are the moral, ethical and religious  questions that have to be decided.

It is very tragic and unfortunate when children are born with defects, impairments  and disabilities ?It is a question which science cannot explain explain fully and neither can we be judgemental  on religious grounds.

Whatever happened has happened and it is God which give us life and death. The strong will survive and the weak will die. That is the law of the universe. We should let nature takes it course, to live or die is not in our hands.

Do they want to play God and decide who lives and who die’s?

Do You Swear?

Posted on October 16, 2007. Filed under: Philosophy Of life | Tags: , |

Everyone of us swear sometimes either loudly or just mumbling silently.. We cant help it as no words can describe what we want to say except to let out expletives  or invectives to release the stress and the tensions that we received from others.

The more vulgar , profane and obscene it is, the better we would feel inside of us.Care should be taken where it is directed at or it could back fire on us.

A study by the University of East Anglia , said swearing at work is good for you.

Do you agree with this findings?

I hope you dont start going  out tomorrow and start swearing at your colleagues or associates or your friends will all desert you and think you have gone off your rockers.

I dont like to swear because it is not good and proper thing to do. Many of us were brought up not to swear as it is ungentlemanly or unladylike .

With this new studies, you have got a license to swear whenever you feel like it.

Dont tell your boss to go to hell! LOL!

Count Your Blessings!

Posted on October 16, 2007. Filed under: Philosophy Of life | Tags: , |

The people in the first world or the developed nations are blessed with all kinds of amenities at their disposal and take it for granted. They are so blessed and yet many are unhappy and take drugs.

Our purpose in life becomes clouded by the material things the world can offer us and we lose sense of our directions in life. Why do we exist? Why some are more blessed than others ?I do not have the answers.

If you feel frustrated about life, think of those unfortunates and those who are suffering and count your blessings.

During my student days, the place where I put up with was not conducive to study and I went back to school in the night time to study there. The headmaster of the school was kind enough to allow us to use the classrooms at night while we were preparing for the exams.

In Singapore’s Changi airport, we can see students studying there and there is airconditioning inside and with all those eateries.

While in Guinea’s G’bessi International Airport, it is common to see students studying there too.
Those students dont go inside the airport but on the outside studying under those street lamps.

Why? Because the airport is one of the few places in the West African country where the lights are always on.

Only about a fifth of its 10 million citizens have access to electricity.
And even they suffer frequent powercuts

Generators are an alternative, but few families can afford one.

Here , we are blessed that everywhere there is electricity. But occasionally , we do have black outs or power failures due to inefficiencies or corruptions.

Be happy and count your many blessings from God.

At Day’s End.

Posted on October 16, 2007. Filed under: Philosophy Of life | Tags: , |

I would like to share this beautiful prose with you all.It is very touching. For at the end of the day , when we reflect back what we have done , we can feel satisfied with what we have done or that tomorrow we can be a better person .

————————————————————–

At Day’s End.

Is anybody happier because you passed this way?

Does anyone rememberThat you spoke to them today?

Today is almost over,And it’s toiling time is through,

Is there anyone to utter now a kindly word of you?

Can you say tonight in parting.

With the day that’s slipping fast…

That you helped a single person of the many that you passed?

Is a single heart rejoicing over what you did or said?

Does the one whose hopes were fading

Now with courage look ahead?

Did you waste the day or us it?

Was it well or sorely spent?

Did you leave a trail of kindness,or a scar of discontent?

As you close your eyes in slumber.

Do you think that God will say…”

You have earned one more tommorrow

By what you did today”.~~

John Hall~~

And in reply another appropriate prose from an unknown writer. Credit and thanks to both of them.

 This Moment

I may never see tomorrow; there is no written guarantee,

And things that happened yesterday belong to history,

I cannot predict the future, I cannot change the past,

I have just the present moment, I must treat it as my last,

I must use this moment wisely for it soon will pass away,

and be lost to me forever as part of yesterday,

I must exercise compassion, help the fallen to their feet,
Be a friend unto the friendless, make an empty life complete,

The unkind things I do today may never be undone,

And friendships that I fail to win may nevermore be won,

I may not have another chance on bended knee to pray,

And thank God with humble heart for giving me this day.

Moments In Time…

Posted on October 15, 2007. Filed under: Philosophy Of life | Tags: , , |

Friends and family.

This made my day hope it makes Yours.

Mom always told me that we could never measure our wealth by money
but by our friends. She would surely be glad to meet you and know
how rich I turned out to be.

God sprinkles tiny but wonderful seeds of blessings on earth each
day…and I just caught one that’s so nice and true…It’s you!

I may have forgotten to say that I care. I may have failed to open
up and share, but though no words have been spoken, my promise of
friendship won’t be broken.

Time and distance are important between friends. When a friend is in
your heart, they remain there forever. I may be busy, but I assure
you, you are always in my heart!

Friends are like the walls of a house. Sometimes they hold you up,
sometimes you lean on them. But sometimes, it’s enough to know
they’re just standing by.

If all my friends were to jump off a bridge, I wouldn’t jump with
them; I’d be at the bottom to catch them.

One tree can start a forest, one smile can start a friendship. One
touch can show you care, one friend can make life worth living for.

A smile makes us look younger. while prayers make us feel stronger.
and friends.? They make us enjoy life.

Moments In Life .

Posted on October 14, 2007. Filed under: Philosophy Of life | Tags: , , |

There are moments in life when you miss
some one
so much that you just want to pick them from
your dreams and hug them for real!

When the door of happiness closes, another
opens;
but often times we look so long at the
closed door that we don’t see the one,
which has been opened for us.

Don’t go for looks; they can deceive.
Don’t go for wealth; even that fades away.
Go for someone who makes you smile,
because it takes only a smile to
make a dark day seem bright.
Find the one that makes your heart smile.

Dream what you want to dream;
go where you want to go;
be what you want to be,
because you have only one life
and one chance to do all the things
you want to do.

May you have enough happiness to make you
sweet, enough trials to make you strong,
enough sorrow to keep you human and
enough hope to make you happy.

The happiest of people don’t necessarily
have the best of everything;
they just make the most of
everything that comes along their way.

The brightest future will always
be based on a forgotten past;
you can’t go forward in life until
you let go of your past failures and
heartaches.

When you were born, you were crying
and everyone around you was smiling.
Live your life so at the end,
you’re the one who is smiling and everyone
around you is crying.
