Implantable Contact Lenses.

There is now an alternative to Lasik surgery , ICL or Implantable contact lenses which can be reversed upon demand. Now, even those with 300deg myopia, which is considered low myopia, can choose ICLs over Lasik.

ICL has an advantage in that it does not alter the shape of the patient’s cornea. It does this by implanting a contact lens into the eye.

The only thing that it is preventing more people to use ICL is the steep price as it cost more than Lasik. Maybe ,in time it may become more fashionable and the price may drop to allow more people to use ICL.

Available in the West since 1993, ICLs cost S$3,000 to S$3,500 per eye. Lasik for both eyes now costs just over S$2,000.

Those with myopia can now choose to wear daily wear contacts, monthly wear disposable , yearly wear and now ICL for those who could afford it.It is permanent and you don’t have to take it out to clean everyday.

Furthermore , there is no risk of infections or complications. There is no halo or glares at night like some cases In Lasik . It cannot be seen or felt by the patient.

All it take is about 10 minutes for each of them to get the lenses implanted. Before it is inserted, the lens is folded and loaded into a small cartridge. As it is injected and unfolds into place, the four corners of the lens are tucked behind the iris. No stitches are needed.

Should the patient’s vision alter with age, the ICL can be removed or replaced.

It is expensive but worth it and your eyes don’t need glasses or need to wear normal contact lenses anymore.

Great article and straight to the point. I don’t know if this is in fact the best place to ask but do you folks have any thoughts on where to get some professional writers? Thanks 🙂

I am not sure what would worry me more, Lasik or the implants you discuss here. I have had surgery on my eye, so I know how unpleasant any procedure in that area can be.

Laura1318:- I am not an expert in this field .I suggest you do more research on this topic from the net.Thank you.
