A Hen That Turns Into A Cockerel !
We have heard of men or women having sex change and it is very common but to hear of a hen turning into a cockerel is simply hard to believe. It is a 1 in 10,000 rarity.
It happens when a damaged ovary causes the hen’s testosterone levels to soar and therefore the bird’s appearance and behaviour change from female to male.
The owner Gill Whiteley who lives in the village of Treales, near Preston, originally thought she bought a hen . When neighbours told her that there was a cockerel crowing daily in her yard, she had a hard time believing until she checked it out.
In the UK , that can be offensive as the cockerels crowing would disturb the neighbour’s peace and tranquility .Some people rear cockerels as a natural alarm clock and wake up when the cockerel cock-a doo-doo !
